Some elite schools allow AP for placement level but not for credit hours toward graduation. HIGH SCHOOL EXIT EXAMINATION (CAHSEE) Starting with the class of 2006, all students must pass this state test to receive a high school diploma. Students who have not received a passing score by August 2006 may receive a certificate of completion. The purpose of the CAHSEE is to improve student achievement in high school. It also is to help ensure that students who graduate from high school can demonstrate competency in the content standards for English-language arts and mathematics, adopted by the State Board of Education.Students who now have passed both parts of the CAHSEE are to be commended for their outstanding effort. Those students in the class of 2006 who have not yet passed both parts of the exam will be required to participate in a remediation program to prepare for re-taking the test in May. Parents/guardians and students are reminded that, in addition to passing the CAHSEE, Algebra 1B must be successfully completed by students in order to graduate. Students planning to attend a college or university will have a number of additional requirements to complete. If you have any questions about CAHSEE or the results for your student, please contact the school office. Our entire staff will be working closely with parents/guardians and students to successfully implement this important testing program. |
