Congratulations to Tori Geist & Caitlin Montgomery, our Girls Basketball Co-Head Coaches. Not only were they voted Coaches of the Year by the Shasta Cascade League. The dynamic duo was also just announced as the Northern Section CIF Girls Basketball Coaches of the Year! This makes the pair the first Trinity coaches to receive this honor in the 32-year history of the award, dating back to 1992. This award is voted on by members of the Chico Enterprise-Record, Red Bluff Daily News, Redding Record Searchlight, Marysville Appeal-Democrat, & the national sports publication MaxPreps. Pictured here is the Varsity Girls Basketball team and coaches with the TAUSD School Board, who acknowledged and honored Coaches Geist and Montgomery at the board meeting this week.

Good morning THS Families! We will be hosting a field trip to tour the Shasta-Trinity ROP Campus in Redding on Thursday , April 11th from 8:45 - 12:00 pm. Students will receive a presentation regarding this amazing program and its offering of hands-on learning experiences, so this is a field trip for any student who is interested in potentially attending the program for the 2024-2025 school year. This program is open to Juniors and Seniors only.  If you would like to know more about ROP and what this program offers our students, please see this website: https://www.strop.org/. Students who participate in this program are still considered THS students, but complete the program at ROP and take their other core classes via Independent Study. They are still eligible to participate in sports and extracurricular activities as offered by THS. Students must turn in a field trip form, which is available in the front office and turn in by Wednesday, 4/10 end of day (3:35 pm) to attend the trip. Please contact Mrs. Smith in the front office with any questions (ssmith@tausd.org).

The THS Culinary Arts Class fed their fellow students today with 42 homemade pizzas. The crust was made from sourdough starter they made in class from yeast gathered off of wild grapes. The salad at the salad bar today featured salad greens and radishes grown by students in the District greenhouse.

Hinu Smith, a member of the Ho Chunk Nation from Wisconsin, recently visited THS to present to students in Caitlin Montgomery’s and Tom Williams’s History classes, as well as Richard Ferguson’s AP Government class. During her presentation, students were captivated and actively engaged in discussions surrounding tribal sovereignty and its relationship to the federal government. Smith's insight into her heritage provided students with a deeper understanding of indigenous perspectives and the ongoing struggle for recognition and autonomy. Through interactive dialogue, students gained valuable insights into the complexities of indigenous governance and the importance of respecting tribal sovereignty. In another significant development, Hinu Smith had the honor of meeting with Chairman Chief Sonny Hayward of the “Nor Rel Muck Wintu” tribe. This meeting provided an opportunity for both individuals to share personal life experiences and tribal histories, fostering unity and mutual respect between their respective communities. Through the facilitation of TAUSD, including Dr. Corey Helgesen, THS Principal and Associate Superintendent, and Mr. Jaime Green, Superintendent of TAUSD, these connections were made possible, demonstrating the commitment to fostering meaningful relationships and cultural understanding within the broader community.
